Oliver Cromwell. To Hell or Connaught? On this day 1658

I won’t speak ill of the dead, but there is not much doubt where many Irish people believed Oliver Cromwell should have gone when he died this day 1658. To provide promised land grants to his soldiers who razed Irish homes, his advice to the poor misbegotten Irish peasantry was “To Hell or Connaught.” Nope, he was not a very pleasant chappie, at all.
